Morning Preparations
The day starts early at 6:00 AM when I check my work tablet for the day’s service appointments and emergency calls. After a quick brief with our dispatch team at S & S Mechanical Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, I ensure my service van is fully stocked with essential parts and diagnostic tools.
First Call of the Day
By 7:30 AM, I’m at our first customer’s home, addressing a heating system that’s not performing efficiently. Winter months are particularly busy for us, and proper system maintenance is crucial for homeowner comfort.
What a Typical Day Includes:
- Performing routine maintenance checks
- Diagnosing system issues
- Replacing worn components
- Conducting safety inspections
- Educating homeowners about system care
Afternoon Tasks
Lunch breaks are flexible, usually between service calls. The afternoon often involves more complex tasks like system installations or major repairs. We pride ourselves on providing thorough explanations to customers about their HVAC systems and necessary maintenance.
Emergency Response
No two days are exactly alike in this field. Sometimes we need to respond to urgent calls – like when a furnace stops working during a cold snap or an AC unit fails in peak summer heat.
End of Day
Before heading home, I complete service reports, restock the van, and prepare for tomorrow’s schedule. It’s satisfying knowing we’ve helped keep our community comfortable and safe through all seasons.
The most rewarding part of working in HVAC services is solving problems and seeing the relief on customers’ faces when their systems are running smoothly again. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help people maintain comfortable, efficient homes.
