Early Morning Preparations
My day as an HVAC technician at Guardian Heating & Cooling starts before sunrise. By 6:30 AM, I’m already reviewing the day’s service calls and checking my equipment to ensure I have all necessary tools and parts for the day ahead.
First Call – Emergency Heating Service
Today’s first stop is in Northbrook, where a family woke up to a cold house. Winter mornings in Chicago’s suburbs can be brutal, so these calls take priority. After a thorough diagnostic check, I identify and repair a faulty igniter – a common issue during peak heating season.
Mid-Morning – Routine Maintenance
By mid-morning, I’m in Lincoln Park performing scheduled maintenance on several residential HVAC systems. Preventative care includes:
– Checking and replacing air filters
– Cleaning condenser coils
– Inspecting electrical connections
– Testing thermostat functionality
– Ensuring proper refrigerant levels
Afternoon Adventures
The afternoon takes me to Skokie for an AC system evaluation. Even in winter, smart homeowners plan ahead for summer comfort. Between calls, I document all service details and communicate with our dispatch team about schedule updates.
Late Day Wrap-Up
As the day winds down in Glenview, I complete a heating system upgrade installation. Before heading back to base, I ensure the new system is running efficiently and the customer understands their new thermostat programming.
Working in the HVAC industry means no two days are alike. Whether it’s battling Chicago’s winter winds in Highland Park or solving complex system issues in any weather, each day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our community stay comfortable year-round.
Remember, regular maintenance is key to preventing those early morning emergency calls. At Guardian Heating & Cooling, we’re always ready to serve, but we prefer helping our customers avoid problems before they start.
